Every so often a stone cracks. Sometimes it’s my fault and happens accidentally, other times maybe there was already a hairline fracture, or a weak spot that couldn’t be seen. It used to really upset me when a stone would crack, but now it excites me because it means I get to use the Japanese repair method of Kintsugi to create a one of a kind repair using silver dust and epoxy. These repaired pieces end up being some of my favorites because they have a character that other stones never will. They are wabi sabi, perfectly imperfect, and made more beautiful in their healed places… just like us humans. Slips on and off over the head, and plays nicely with other necklaces.

+ The stone had a small crack in it that I repaired in the Japanese method of Kintsugi, using powdered silver infused epoxy to create a beautiful, one of a kind repair.
