the Fukinsei Cuff (SS)

Meet the Fukinsei Cuff. This cuff is representative of the seven pillars of Japanese Zen aesthetics within wabi-sabi, but also focuses on one specifically… fukinsei, or the natural beauty and balance found in asymmetry.

There are seven hand stamped lines to represent these seven tenets of wabi-sabi:

Fukinsei || asymmetry

Kanso || simplicity

Shinzen || naturalness with purpose + intention

Seijaku || tranquility, energized calm + stillness

Shibui || understated beauty + elegant simplicity

Datsuzoku || transcending the conventional + outside the box

Yugen || an awareness of the universe that triggers an emotional response too deep + mysterious for words

In embodying wabi-sabi itself this piece is
imperfect, made by hand, and not meant to look like it was made by a machine. It is cut and shaped by hand, stamped by hand with a hammer and a toolthat were my grandfather’s. It is finished with a polished finish and heavy oxidation that will age beautifully with time and wear.

Each one will be one of a kind because it’s made to order, in your size, by my hands. Expect your cuff to ship within 1-4 weeks of ordering.

To order: Choose the width of cuff band you want and leave your wrist size at check out in the notes section. These come with a heavy oxidation, if you prefer a light patina, or none at all, please also let me know with your wrist size and I will create yours as you request.

How to measure your wrist size: Using a soft tape measure (or a piece of string that you can measure on a ruler or tape measure), measure around the wrist you will wear the cuff on. Measure right against the skin. The tape measure or string should not be loose or tight, just gently against the skin. Be sure to include the small bump of your ulna on the outside of your wrist in your measurement. This is the wrist size you will leave in the notes and I will make your cuff according to this size.
