the Datsuzoku Necklace
Datsuzoku, one of the 7 principles of wabi-sabi, is to transcend the conventional + live outside the box.
I love the idea of this one element within the philosophy of wabi-sabi that is a bit unexpected. It’s the element that ignores the rules, is freehand, irregular and disorganized. It teaches us to find freedom, and be unbound by norms, to go against the grain, and live life creatively.
I wanted to come up with a design that evoked that feeling for me, and I feel I have done that with these. The pattern and weathered texture on the Datsuzoku + Double Datsuzoku Necklace were both done freehand with no set pattern placement. Each one will be made to order in this exact same way. No two ever exactly the same.
I also love that there is something both urban, and of the natural world about these textures too. They hit the urban hippie vibe just right for me. I hope they evoke this, and whatever else you might feel from them, for you as well.
The brass version is finished with a polished finish that will age and patina beautifully with time and wear. The sterling silver option is finished with a polished finish and heavy oxidation that will age beautifully with time and wear.
Each one will be one of a kind because it’s made to order, by my hands. Expect your order to ship within 1-4 weeks of ordering.
